He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine in 1980 and completed his residency at Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, Dept. of Urology, Istanbul between 1980 and1984. From 1984 to 1991 he worked as the Chief Assistant, Clinic of Urology, Haydarpaşa Numune Teaching Hospital, Istanbul and in 1991 became the Associate Medical Director, Clinic of Urology, Vakıf Gureba Teaching Hospital, Istanbul. In 1998 he accepted his position as Director, Clinic of Urology, Taksim Teaching Hospital, Istanbul. He moved to his current position in Trakya University in 2010.

Between 1991 and 2006 he served on the Executive Committee of the Turkish Association of Urology in an executive capacity. He was a member of the Exective Committee of the Turkish Board of Urology between 2002 and 2006. In 1998 he became a member of the European Board of Urology and its Manpower Committee and then a member of the Examination Committee. He served as the secretary of the European Board of Urology between 2008 and 2010. He is currently the President of the European Board of Urology.

Dr. Çek has been instrumental in organising and participating as a speaker in various international symposia annually in various fields of urology. In 1998 he served as co-chairman of the European School of Urology Course of Continent Urinary Diversion. In the year 2000 he received Honorary Membership of the Georgian Society of Urology. He also has membership of the following associations: Turkish Association of Urology, Turkish Society of Andrology, Society of Endourology, Society of Pediatric Urology, European Association of Urology and American Urological Association. During the years 1996 – 1998 he served in an editorial position on the Vakıf Gureba Medical Journal. He currently serves on the Turkish Journal of Urology Scientific Board and actively participates in the Genitourinary Infections Study Group of the Turkish Association of Urology. Dr. Çek is regularly asked to review medical publications. His major areas of interest includes; Urooncology, Reconstructive urology and Genitourinary Infections. He is a Board Member of the European Section for Infections in Urology (ESIU). Dr. Çek is currently writing a PhD in Hospital Acquired Infections with the assistance of the University of Aarhus in Denmark.
