Eva Topinková is a board certified physician in internal medicine and in geriatric medicine affiliated with the University Hospital in Prague, and holds the Chair of Dep. of Geriatrics, Charles University, Prague, as well as being Director of Postgraduate Training Program in Geriatrics at the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education in Prague since 1998.

She serves as Chair of the newly accredited PhD program in Gerontology since 2001, and she is also chairing the Accreditation Committee for Geriatric Medicine, Ministry of Health, Czech Republic as well as being a board member of the National Board Certification Committee for Geriatric Medicine.

Professor Topinková is a President of the Clinical Section, IAGG-European Region, and a national representative in other international bodies (Geriatric Medicine Section of UEMS, Fellow of “interRAI” research consortium, European Masters Studies in Gerontology – EUMAG), member of the Academic Board European Union Geriatric Medicine Society. She served as an expert of European Commission for the 5th, 6th and 7th Framework Program in the area of aging and disability and as WHO expert.

She is involved in research and served as PI or national co-ordinator of several national and international research projects under EC funding in the field of epidemiology, disability, clinical nutrition, geriatric syndromes including incontinence, sarcopenia and frailty (international projects ADHOC, CLESA, European Forum on Ageing, NUTRI-SENEX, SHELTER).

Prof. Topinková is author or co-author of several textbooks and monographs and more than 200 publications in professional and scientific journals.
